Did You Know?

🌼 Daylily Division Time! ✨

Did you know that late August is ideal for dividing daylilies in many parts of the country? If your clumps are crowded or not blooming like they used to, it’s time to give them a fresh start!

Here’s how:

1️⃣ Dig up the entire clump carefully—try not to damage the roots!
2️⃣ Use a sharp spade or garden fork to split the clump into smaller sections, each with at least 2–3 fans of leaves and healthy roots.
3️⃣ Replant divisions about 18 inches apart in well-drained soil with full to part sun.
3️⃣ Water deeply right after transplanting and mulch to retain moisture.

Timing tip:

📍 USDA Zones 5–8: Late August to early September is perfect.
📍 USDA Zones 9–10: Divide later in the fall.
📍 USDA Zones 3–4: Divide earlier, in July or early August, to allow root recovery before frost.

Dividing now lets daylilies establish roots before cooler weather—so expect even bigger, brighter blooms next summer! 🌸
